PROGRAM DIRECTOR

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Director, Know to Grow Life Enrichment Group is seeking a dynamic, organized, and mission-driven Program Director, Know to Grow to lead a growing post-secondary readiness program that supports high school students as they prepare for life after graduation. 

This leader will oversee the Know to Grow program, support and supervise program staff, strengthen school and community partnerships, and help expand the reach and impact of the program. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in youth development, education, post-secondary planning, and team leadership, and is passionate about helping students successfully navigate college, career, trade, and other post-high school pathways. 

About the Role 

The Program Director, Know to Grow is responsible for overseeing program quality, staff support, student recruitment and enrollment, school and community partnerships, and the logistics and execution of college access programming, including college tours and workshops. This role serves as a key leader in ensuring students and families receive high-quality guidance, support, and exposure to post-secondary opportunities. 

This position reports to the Chief Program Officer. 

What Success Looks Like 

In the first 6–12 months, success in this role may include: 

  • Maintaining strong implementation of existing Know to Grow programming
  • Expanding the number of schools, sites, and students served 
  • Strengthening community and school partnerships 
  • Increasing student enrollment and program participation 
  • Supporting strong contract and funding outcomes tied to program delivery 
  • Leading a high-quality, organized, and student-centered experience for youth and families 

Key Responsibilities 

The Program Director, Know to Grow will: 

  • Provide overall leadership and oversight of the Know to Grow program
  •  Supervise, train, coach, and support post-secondary advising staff 
  • Ensure high-quality delivery of college preparation and post-secondary programming 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, school partners, and community partners 
  • Coordinate workshops, presentations, outreach efforts, and student support activities 
  • Oversee planning and logistics for local, in-state, and out-of-state college tours, including HBCU tours 
  • Ensure students receive support related to FAFSA, scholarships, personal statements, college applications, majors, study strategies, and post-secondary planning 
  • Recruit students through outreach, events, social media, and school/community engagement 
  • Monitor program implementation, staff performance, and progress toward organizational and contractual goals 
  • Review program data, semester reports, and team snapshots for leadership
  • Support budgeting, scheduling, documentation, and program operations 
  • Serve as a visible and engaging representative of Life Enrichment Group in schools and the community. 

What We’re Looking For 

The strongest candidates will bring: 

  • Experience working in education, youth development, college access, or a related field 
  • Strong knowledge of post-secondary pathways, including 2-year colleges, 4-year colleges, trades/vocational options, scholarships, FAFSA, college applications, personal statements, and career exploration
  • Experience working directly with high school-aged youth 
  • Demonstrated success leading programs, supervising staff, or managing projects 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Facilitation and presentation skills, including the ability to engage young people and families 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 
  • A growth mindset, strong work ethic, and the ability to lead with both care and accountability 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Black students, students of color, and communities historically impacted by inequitable access to post-secondary opportunities 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience 
  • Experience in academic case management, college access, youth programming, or post-secondary advising 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Reliability and commitment to the growth and development of young people 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience supervising or managing staff 
  • Experience working with high school students in school-based or community-based settings 
  • Experience planning student travel, tours, workshops, or large program events 
  • Familiarity with community partnership development, contracts, or program growth opportunities

Additional Information 

  • This is a full-time position. 
  • The role includes participation in college tours, workshops, and occasional evening or weekend programming as needed. 
  • Minimum 20% travel requirement, encompassing both local and out-of-state travel. Responsibilities include leading biannual week-long tours to the East Coast or South, as well as managing in-state and regional college visits involving overnight stays.

Compensation 

Salary: Competitive; final compensation to be determined based on experience and internal approval.
